How did you get started with racing?

Dad was a grasstrack rider and so I have always been into racing bikes.

Dad built me a bike out of an old Honda C50 when I was 3years old. I would ride it round after the grass meetings he did.

Then as I got older I progressed onto bigger bikes and at the age of 11 I started to race grasstrack myself.

After nine years on the grass I decided to buy a bike for speedway. The intention was to just do a few second half's and maybe some Conference meetings.

After a year of that I decided to take up Sheffield's offer to join them in the Premier League for my first full season of pro speedway racing.

Tell us a bit more about yourself

I live in York with my parents.

I have a full time job as a joiner for a firm called Peter Thompson of York.

The rest you can probably guess.

Been racing grass for 11 years now. In that time I have won a lot of meetings and enjoyed myself.

I have made it clear that I want to keep racing on the grass, but speedway has to be my first choice because I ride for a team and I do not want to let the team, the management and the fans down.

Dream Team (including yourself)

Paul Cooper

Gary Flint

Glen Phillips

Josh Auty

Scott Courtney

Mike Francis (Never ridden speedway but a good motocross rider)

We would be so bad, but they are all my mates so we would have a good time together and get drunk after in the bar.
